Jann Acutt has had a chequered work history. She started out as a social sciences researcher but left it all to travel for four years. She did everything from washing dishes to picking grapes and making hamburgers before returning having decided to be … a Writer. Jann has an Honours degree in Psychology and her training includes a BBC/ABC Ulwazi radio drama writing course, the SASWA NQF level 5 script writing course, the APTI animation writers’ course, and the NFVF’s Sediba Masters programme as a script editor.
 
Jann has written radio drama series for ABC Ulwazi and Soul City and was head writer for Soul City radio drama for two years. She has written for children’s television and radio (Takalani Sesame) as well as educational and live television, short films and corporate training videos. Jann has had many job titles throughout her fifteen years in the media industry – from writer to script coordinator to content producer, head writer, project manager and producer. She produced the SAFTA award winning programme The Edition and has worked on everything from edutainment to reality shows, live television to radio drama. Her work has taken her into all kinds of worlds – including ball room dancing, forestry, and pet grooming parlours! In her spare time, Jann writes film scripts, poetry and novels.
