WGSA Council Member Zunaid Mansoor will present a session titled Writing for the Page and Screen at the Durban International Book Fair on 8 August 2026 from 15:00 to 16:00.

The session will explore the relationship between literature and screen storytelling, examining how books, graphic novels, comics and journalistic works continue to inspire successful film and television adaptations. While the rise of audiovisual media once sparked concerns about the future of books, the publishing and screen industries have instead developed a mutually beneficial relationship, with adaptations often generating renewed interest in original works.
Drawing on contemporary examples and industry trends, Mansoor will discuss the creative and commercial opportunities that emerge when stories move between page and screen, as well as the skills writers need to navigate both mediums.
The Durban International Book Fair brings together readers, writers, publishers and industry professionals in a celebration of literature, storytelling and the written word. Mansoor’s presentation forms part of the fair’s programme of discussions and engagements exploring the evolving landscape of publishing and creative content.
