In this workshop, WGSA member and Creativity Coach Michael Lee will work with participants to understand their experiences with the annoying experience known as “Writer’s Block”. We will discuss the reasons why it is called here a “myth” and look at techniques and approaches not to overcome it, but to avoid it completely.

Michael Lee is an internationally-certified Creativity Coach, Life Coach, Executive Coach, and NLP Practitioner. He is a working creative professional with thirty years of experience in the film/TV industries as a writer, director, producer, script consultant, cameraman and editor. He also has a long history as an educator and facilitator, and is the founder of the programme of the Academy of Television, where he currently serves as Custodian of the Storytelling Department.

Michael began his career as a script analyst for Castle Rock Pictures in Hollywood before moving to Prague, where he co-founded the international literary magazine TRAFIKA. In Africa, has directed numerous reality shows and documentaries, including as co-creator of the 4x SAFTA-winning Jam Sandwich and as Head of Content for SAFTA-winning Die Foon. Michael was also Executive Producer of Documentaries and Reality Programming for Abuja-based Gotel Africa. He has been founding Treasurer of the Documentary Filmmakers Association (DFA), served several years on the Exco of the South African Screen Federation (SASFED), and is currently on the Policy Subcommittee of the WGSA.

He is currently writer/producer for the series adaptation in process of the novel Indaba My Children and feature adaptations of the novels The Blessed Girland The Seed Thief. Michael is an approved script editor for the National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF).
