Join us for Writing for Children’s Animation with Omotunde Akiode, a Nigerian screenwriter with 15 years of experience across live-action hits and acclaimed kids’ shows, including Netflix’s Supa Team 4 and Kiya. With her passion for comedy and deep knowledge of children’s media, Omotunde will share insights into how great kids’ television is crafted.

Meet your Speaker

Omotunde Akiode is a Nigerian screenwriter with 15 years of experience working on live action Nigerian shows such as Tinsel, Nigeria’s longest running soap opera, MTV Shuga Naija series, Ajoche, Battleground, Enakhe, Dear Mother and Spider. She started focusing afterwards on children’s animation shows and has worked on shows such as Boy, Girl, Dog, Cat, Mouse, Cheese by Watch Next Media, Netflix’s Supa Team 4 African animation series, Kiya by E-One/Frogbox, Jungle Book Preschool series by Baboon Animation, Mini Beat Power Rockers by Mundolocco Studios, Argentina, Empress Sissi by TV Mundo, Italy. The list continues and she is always open to working with studios all over the world. She is passionate about writing for children’s animation and has a special leaning towards comedy. She has an M.Sc in Architecture, certificates in Filmmaking and Digital Arts, and is currently studying for an MA, Comedy Writing. She participated in the 2022 Netflix/Realness Institute Development Executive Trainee program. She is currently an adjunct lecturer, teaching Children’s Media Studies at Pan-Atlantic University, Lagos, Nigeria, where she also resides with her daughter and dogs. Her hobbies are reading, films, travel, documentaries and anything funny or endearing. She is represented by Hudson Agency, New York, USA.
