MEET YOUR MENTOR: TANYA MUDALY

Tanya Mudaly began her career in 1997 at the South African Broadcast Corporation as a writer and director in the Dramatic Encounters initiative, aimed at training filmmakers of color to tell real South African stories. She has since written for numerous daily series and ascended to production roles, including serving as a Commissioning Editor for Drama at SABC. Tanya led high-profile series like Sokhulu and Partners, Isidingo, Society, and Tshisa, all of which achieved high ratings and revenues.

Currently, Tanya is a Head Writer, Creative Producer, and Showrunner in production and development with several drama series. She freelances as an academic lecturer and has been a key creative producer and head writer for several series in development. She has studied indigenous storytelling across Africa, Latin America, and Asia. Tanya also collaborates extensively with the Kwazulu Film Commission, NFVF, and East Cape Film Cortex Hub, training and mentoring filmmakers.
