Jacques Du Rand – Membership
Jacques Du Rand is a seasoned storyteller and production expert with a career spanning in scheduling, 1st AD, production, and screenwriting. Renowned for balancing creative integrity with logistical precision, he has written on acclaimed series Backstage, Muvhango, The Black Door, Gamora Diepe Waters, Arendsvlei and Skemergrond. In addition, he has two produced films, Kamer 6 and Spoedgrens.
He is currently in the planning phase to produce a new cinema release for a film he penned in 2023. Jacques holds a Master’s in Screenwriting (AFDA, 2023 Cum Laude), and champions narratives empowering marginalized communities (LGBTI+, Special Needs, GBV). As co-chair of the SAFTAS screenwriting panel, he merges systemic expertise with ethical storytelling to shape inclusive media.
His motto: “The show must go on—without sacrificing authenticity.” A motto he enjoys sharing with his students at AFDA where he consults with Directing students to get their scripts production ready.
