Sabelo Mgidi aka Subz The Movie Writer is a well known South African screenwriter and author of 3 novels from JHB, South Africa. The 30 year old who is originally from Pretoria started writing at the age of 18. By 22 he entered a short story writing competition hosted by SAWC South African Writing Circle and went away with the first-place prize for a short story titled “Grim Game”. Shortly thereafter, he started work on his first novel “The Split of Gary Oliver” which was followed by “The Exit Interview” and “The Gautrain Heist” which became an independent bestseller.

Subz began screen-writing in 2013, finding that he was just as passionate about writing for film and television as he was about writing novels and in 2019 was hired as the HEAD WRITER at Ferguson Films for the hit show Kings of Joburg which became a No.1 show on netflix in numerous countries including SA for over 5 weeks. Recently, Subz has been appointed to write the movie Bare an adoption of the No.1 bestselling book written by Jackie Phamotse as well as head writer for a new TV drama titled TLOU under Ferguson Films. His debut movie Silverton Siege, an action packed blockbuster is currently in production as a Netflix Original.
