Course Outline:

Day 1: 
The Performance Writer
The performance writer; the business of writing; the film industry matrix and role players; contracts and IP

Day 2:
The Script
The process of developing an idea into script; An introduction to story elements and the common scriptwriting tools; tagline, logline, synopsis, treatment, outline, and one sheet (one-pager)

Day 3:
Scriptwriting Tools
Script formatting and software

Day 4:
Story Elements Part I:
Plot, Structure, Genre, Theme, Setting, and Action

Day 5:
Story Elements Part II:
Character, Back story, Dialogue, and Exposition

Workshop Format
·         The course will run for 5 days, commencing on a Monday 11 March 2019 and conclude on the Friday, 15 March 2019 (8h00 to 17h00 daily)
·         All sessions will consist of written outcome-based lesson plans
·         Each course will have a maximum 30 participants
·         The course will be conducted in English

At the end of the course every participant will have written a short film, and receive feedback after 1 week

COST PER CLASS
Classes are sponsored by the GFC, but each participant will sign a Memorandum of Agreement to attend all 5 classes.  Spaces are limited to 30 participants.

CERTIFICATION
Learners will receive a certificate
