Writing Radio Dramas
Speaker: Christa Biyela
About the Session
Radio drama takes us back to the times of folktales, where a listener uses their imagination to paint a vivid story picture in their mind, whilst guided by the actor’s voice. Without the comprehension and full appreciation of this special medium, stories written and delivered in vernacular tends to lose its presiding power in naturally strengthening our sense of imagination. Radio drama forms a strong partnership between a writer and a listener.
This is an invaluable experience for those who are keen on writing for Radio but also for those who want to write impactful stories for TV or film. The session will empower writers and give insights on writing with an understanding of subtext and nuanced, multi-dimensional characters.
Join Christa as she shares some important lessons on story and understanding Writing Radio Dramas.

About the Session
Sometimes to get a story down, our creativity needs to go beyond words”. In this WRITING AS A BUSINESS session. Over the hour, I will show you three simple yet effective writing and designing tool s that I use for my work.
• WRITERSOLO- This Screenwriting App for your computer has all the necessary elements to get a screenwriter up and going. And you can use it offline.
• GRAMMARLY- Eliminate errors of punctuation, spelling, and syntax with this handy app that you can use on your MS Word and internet text including Gmail & Facebook.
• CANVA- A graphic design package to create Storyboards, Book Covers, Press Releases, Movie Posters, Show Invitations, Logos, Newsletters, or just about anything graphic design.
Anil Polton realizes that writers need much more than just a screenwriting package to support themselves, and with that in mind would like to show you some of the tools he uses in his writing endeavors. He has a “fair” knowledge about computers and his philosophy is that you cannot know enough about anything but at least something is good enough to get you moving.
